Travelogue: Trip to North Island, New Zealand- Our accommodation at Lake Tarawera

Our journey to New Zealand, also known as Aotearoa in the native Maori language which means "The land of the long white cloud" started when we landed in Auckland International Airport. We were hyped about our visit as we have heard so many wonderful things about New Zealand, mainly her natural beauty which we were keen to explore. New Zealand has so much to offer: from stunning natural scenery of jagged mountains, fiords, stunning lakes, the most scenic beaches and jaw dropping active volcanic features. We couldn't wait to start our adventure!!

Lake Tarawera where we spent a few days

The beautiful lake

We picked up our rental car and headed south towards Rotorua where we spent a few days exploring. Our accommodation was based in Lake Tarawera. We found this amazing house with breathtaking lake views that we couldn't resist. When we got there, it was better than the pictures on the website!! It was a huge house with 4 bedrooms. The master bedroom had the most spectacular views out to the lake. The living area was beautifully decorated and has a wonderful modern fireplace with an open plan kitchen and dining area. There was even a great tv and wireless internet provided.

Wonderful kitchen to cook up a storm
The kitchen was very well-stocked with all modern appliances and cookware.

There's an aircon for warmer weather and a modern fireplace when it's colder
The view from the lounge and the terrace outside
The views from the house was breathtaking. You just want to look outside all the way, whether you are lounging on the couch or having a meal at the dining table. This is surely heaven on earth, and I didn't want to leave.

The house consists of 4 levels, including the basement. There's a huge garage for 3 cars and even a boat storage area. It also has an internal lift so it is convenient for the elderly and the wheelchair bound.

The lake is beautiful. If you come during the summer, it must be buzzing with activities.

After 11 hours of long flight and 3 hours driving to Lake Tarawera, our fatique overtook our excitement and we watched the sunset before hitting the hay, dreaming about what the next day on the Land of the long white clouds would bring :).
